Sloyd is actually a Swedish educational system that taught the student tasks and skills to prepare them for life in general. A knife was one of the first skills or tools taught and it used what has now come to be known as a Sloyd knife. Most Sloyd knives on the market are not patterned after the original design which was a straight blade with a blunt tip.
