A thicker blade for roughout work and a nice point for larger detail work. Good for stop cuts, flat plane carving and general roughing out of the carving. We have had a lot of people say they use this 1" carving knife for chip carving, even though that was not its original purpose. The "Detail Roughout Carver" is one of our carving knives of choice for the beginner wood carver. These wood carving knives come to you sharp and ready to use.
|Knife Handle Length:||Handles are approximately 5 1/4" in length. This does vary due to the fact that all the handles are handmade. There may be slight variations in the size and shape.|
|Handle Material:||Each handle is created out of North American hardwood. We do our best to find a highly figured piece of wood for each figured handle. The wood shown in the photo may not be the same handle material you receive.|
|Blade Material:||Our wood carving knives are individually forged from W1 tool steel, the benefit of this kind of steel is that it produces a nice hardness that can be easily sharpened and stay sharp for a long time.|
PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife.
Each knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 10 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 2 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email
Delivery was faster than expected, and the knife is beautiful! This is my go-to knife now.
So far in my use I have found it certainly takes the wood if it needs to. It is very light weight. It weighs less than a butter knife and yet has strong abilities.
It has some of the same beneficial qualities in one knife that I use and find in two separate knives. As with any tool it is not the carve all, but it can complete more serious tasks and maintain a good bevelled edge. The thick spine of the blade to its thin sharp edge has a longer distance than most others I use. Which means it is bigger and its sharp edge stays flat back to its spine as you sharpen it. This makes keeping a steady uniform blade from front to back much easier for maintaining said degree or angle its entire lifetime of use.
I had a class and I about if my knife. Most people had a Havice knife buy very one wants to know what they wanted was my your email address so they could check out you address.
Can’t say enough. Love these tools!
I purchased your blade only and made a custom handle for it. Today was the first i got go use it. I’m very impressed. I will be ordering another blade very soon
