Wonderful Customer Service and Quality

I requested a custom grind on the skinny sloyd and got something that exceeded my expectations. I ordered the Detail Roughout and the Upswept Detail as well, and all three knives were created with excellent craftsmanship.

Traditional excellence

Purchased for carving Dala horses traditionally. A heritage thing. Very early learning stages for using the knife, so far so good. Holds the edge beautifully, cuts smoothly and only stabbed myself twice. Great knife, thanks for your work.

Great knife

Great at getting around the radius of a spoon and the curved parts around the handle. Fine enough to do detail work on the spoon handle. Will most definitely be buying one of every knife offered. Impressive!!!

What a great knife

I purchased a 2 1/2 inch Sloyd knife about a month ago and it has to be the best knife I've ever used. High quality, holds an edge longer than my Flexcut knives and with a little stropping now and then cuts wood like I'm cutting butter. I think I should have went with a 2 inch blade as my hands are not that big, but it's hard to put it down. I've carved many carvings over the past month and just love my knife from Deepwoods Ventures. One of these days when the funds are available, I plan on ordering another knife from them. And did I mention the prices are a lot less than many of the custom knives out there? Great knife and I recommend them

This is your all around carving Sloyd knife. Skinnier than our Bushcraft blade and made to take those tight curves on a spoon or kuksa. Made from W1 round stock tool steel. It holds an edge well with just stropping. 3 blade lengths in a straight or upswept profile, and 3 different wood options for your handle - or just the blade. Leather sheath sold separately.

Definitely an Upgrade
I've carved around 20ish spoons with this thing now and am very pleased. It's definitely an upgrade over the standard mora 106. It holds a better edge and is easy to sharpen. The handle is beautifully shaped and finished. It's a great tool.

Knife Handle Length: Handles are approx. 5-1/2 - 6" long. This can vary because each handle is individually hand shaped.
Handle Material: Each handle is created out of North American hardwood. We do our best to find a highly figured piece of wood for each figured handle. The wood shown in the photo may not be the same handle material you receive.
Blade Material: Our Skinny Sloyd is individually forged from W1 tool steel, the benefit of this kind of steel is that it produces a nice hardness that can be easily sharpened and stay sharp for a long time.
Tang Length: 1-1/2"
Steel Dia: 3/8"

How We Make Carving Knives - Video

PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife. On this knife the carving edge is polished and the upper part towards the spine is left unpolished.
Each knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 14 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 3 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email
