Great little detail knife

This 1 1/4 inch detail knife is my third knife from Deep Woods Ventures. That should say something! It came sharp, stays sharp longer that most of my other detail knives and is easy to sharpen (strop). I reach for this knife more often than any of my others because it cuts so cleanly when I need it.

Happy again

My review to Paul's scalpel caring knife s is very positive and I do mean it , only two things for my fist, I would like to have 3-4 mm thicker knife handle and 2,5 mm slimmer blade so I can get easier to round it, butt this is only my critique, I am very demanding on carving tools I do my work to perfection that's why's my demands. Overall Paul's knifes,,deepwoods ventures " are the best on market now. George J Balon in Ray City Ga.

First carving knife - perfect starter for me!

I was looking for a first carving knife and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I am carving mainly 1" X 1" basswood and this has worked really well. Holds an edge well and is easy to get back to shape with the strop. I am a true beginner (having taken one class...) but this knife works perfect for me. Will be back for a spoon knife for my next few projects.

The smaller diameter of the steel on this blades makes for a very sturdy yet great detail knife. We stretched out the length to make it "slim" with a nice long point. This knife will serve you well when carving tight spaces, but also a good all around general carving knife. A good addition to any carvers tool bag.

Great Size
I bought both blade shapes in slim profile and they are excellent for fine details but also can remove a surprising amount of wood. highly recommend.

Knife Handle Length: Handles are approximately 5-1/4" in length. This does vary due to the fact that all the handles are handmade. There may be slight variations in the size and shape.
Handle Material: Each handle is created out of North American hardwood. We do our best to find a highly figured piece of wood for each figured handle. The wood shown in the photo may not be the same handle material you receive.
Blade Material: Our wood carving knives are individually forged from W1 tool steel, the benefit of this kind of steel is that it produces a nice hardness that can be easily sharpened and stay sharp for a long time.

Tang Length:

1-1/2"

Steel Dia:

1/4"

How We Make Carving Knives - Video

PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife.
Each knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 10 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 2 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email
