The longer cutting edge on this decoy carving knife enables you to carve on the larger part of the carving and then move right into the details without changing knives. This wood carving knife is great for detail work. Named after a local wood carver. We have a lot of decoy carvers that prefer this wood carving knife. These wood carving knives come to you sharp and ready to use.
|Knife Handle Length:
|Handles are approximately 5 1/4" in length. This does vary due to the fact that all the handles are handmade. There may be slight variations in the size and shape.
|Each handle is created out of North American hardwood. We do our best to find a highly figured piece of wood for each figured handle. The wood shown in the photo may not be the same handle material you receive.
|Our wood carving knives are individually forged from W1 tool steel, the benefit of this kind of steel is that it produces a nice hardness that can be easily sharpened and stay sharp for a long time.
PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made carving knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This alows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife.
Each carving knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 10 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 2 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email
Very timely on delivery, the knife was exactly what I needed and it’s comes extremely sharp from Deepwoods.
Awesome, beautiful knife.
This particular knife wins first in class in my toolbox and is a daily user and one worth having multiples of in multiple work areas. The hand forged blade is durable and just the right amount of heft and delicateness for my carving needs. I will also mention that I carve woods harder on the Janka scale that basswood--such as walnut, cherry, and cedar. This is where this knife shines--it can power through those types of woods and it strops right back to its sharpness easily. Seems like one of these knives will last me a lifetime of carving.
I ordered 4 knives from Woodsventures. and they are excellent. They arrived super sharp. and preformed well.
Design is good. But It’s so dull. I have tried sharpening it. But no luck.
