Definitely an Upgrade
I've carved around 20ish spoons with this thing now and am very pleased. It's definitely an upgrade over the standard mora 106. It holds a better edge and is easy to sharpen. The handle is beautifully shaped and finished. It's a great tool.

Knife Handle Length: Handles are approx. 5-1/2 - 6" long. This can vary because each handle is individually hand shaped.
Handle Material: Each handle is created out of North American hardwood. We do our best to find a highly figured piece of wood for each figured handle. The wood shown in the photo may not be the same handle material you receive.
Blade Material: Our Skinny Sloyd is individually forged from W1 tool steel, the benefit of this kind of steel is that it produces a nice hardness that can be easily sharpened and stay sharp for a long time.
Tang Length: 1-1/2"
Steel Dia: 5/16"

How We Make Carving Knives - Video

PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife. On this knife the carving edge is polished and the upper part towards the spine is left unpolished.
Each knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 14 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 3 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email

Beautiful!

The figured wood is beautiful, the handle shape is perfect for me even with my large hands. They only things was a 1/16" gap around half of the tang and the wood. There was no movement but I still filled the space with glue.

2/12 inch Sloyd

The blade that I purchased from here has a great and conscience blade design. From the mirror polish to the angled slot in the tang to seamlessly put it in a handle. I would recommend this knife.

I can’t say I am

I can’t say I am a fan of this sloyd knife - compared to the Mora 106 it just does not cut as smoothly. I was not sure why so I started comparing the knifes. The Mora is consistent in thickness from the beginning to the end of the knife before the bevels start but the skinny sloyd gets thicker as you move to the tip. It is thicker than the Mora 106. The thickness and length different 3” vs 2.5” may be the reason I keep using the Mora 106 and not the skinny sloyd even for work just using the tip of the knife. Maybe my fault for not getting the 3” to make a better comparison. I have been very happy with the 3 spoon hooks I got. They are very sharpe and work really well. Having the different sizes has come in handy depending on the pieces I am working on.

A really good knife

I just bought one of these knives and have done a bit of carving with, the workmanship is awesome and the knife is beautiful. It is really great for roughing out shapes and the longer blade can be really helpful for smoothing out surfaces on larger/ flatter carvings. it is worth noting that the edge has a wider bevel than many of the other knives from deep woods; this can be really helpful if you have to make a turning cut in a tight corner, but can be limiting as well. I've been using this and the detail carver together which makes a great combination.
