The smaller diameter of the steel on this blades makes for a very sturdy yet great detail knife. We stretched out the length to make it "slim" with a nice long point. This knife will serve you well when carving tight spaces, but also a good all around general carving knife. A good addition to any carvers tool bag.

How We Make Carving Knives - Video
PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife.

I often see people asking for recommendations on knives. I have been using both Helvie and Denny knives that I inherited from my father )I love both of these brands). But in both cases, they are difficult to get. Therefore, I thought I would write a review on some knives that I just purchased. I purchased these deepwood venture knives, and after a carving session, completing this Santa, I must say I’m very impressed with the quality of these knives!They were extremely sharp right out of the package and I carved this in entire carving without the need of sharpen my knives at all. The blades are sturdy, very similar to Helvie knives. The sharp of the handle took a little time to get comfortable with, but after an hour or so I didn’t even notice.
If I remember correctly I had to place my order on a Monday, as their weekly allotment quickly fills and manufacture informed me that he will only take orders that he can fill during the week. From the time I ordered the knives till I received them was just a little over three weeks. The two that I have pictured here are a rough out knife and a medium size detailed knife. They have a smaller, detailed knife, but I did not purchase it. Based on my first use of these knives, I would give them two thumbs up and recommend to other carvers.

The Slim Scalpel Knife is beautiful. It arrived as the sharpest knife I’ve ever used. Cuts like a dream and when it needs a stropping, it only takes about two to three swipes on each side and it’s ready to go again.
If you’re looking for ready to go knife at a great price, I highly recommend Deepwoods Ventures. I know I’ll be buying more in the future.

All our knives are shipped through the US Postal Service. If our would like to use a different carrier please email us for shipping costs.
All U.S. orders: flat rate of $6.75 for orders under $125.00
We ship using USPS, if you would like it to ship via a different carrier please contact us for cost.
All Canadian orders: flat rate of $29.96 for all orders. Customer is responsible for any additional import/duty taxes. Yes we realize this is expensive and I wish we could make it less expensive. Orders can take 7-25 days to arrive after they have shipped so please be patient.
We ship using USPS first class mail, if you would like it to ship via a different carrier please contact us for cost.
All orders outside the U.S. and Canada: We do not ship direct to customers outside of the U.S. and Canada. If you are located outside of the U.S. You may want to use a forwarding company. We have had many customers use this option with great success. Here are a few choices: Shipito, Shipittous, Forward2Me, Reship - these are just a few options. Do your research for one that fits you best.
