The smaller diameter of the steel on this blades makes for a very sturdy yet great detail knife. We stretched out the length to make it "slim" with a nice long point. This knife will serve you well when carving tight spaces, but also a good all around general carving knife. A good addition to any carvers tool bag.

Great Size
I bought both blade shapes in slim profile and they are excellent for fine details but also can remove a surprising amount of wood. highly recommend.

Knife Handle Length: Handles are approximately 5-1/4" in length. This does vary due to the fact that all the handles are handmade. There may be slight variations in the size and shape.
Handle Material: Each handle is created out of North American hardwood. We do our best to find a highly figured piece of wood for each figured handle. The wood shown in the photo may not be the same handle material you receive.
Blade Material: Our wood carving knives are individually forged from W1 tool steel, the benefit of this kind of steel is that it produces a nice hardness that can be easily sharpened and stay sharp for a long time.

Tang Length:

1-1/2"

Steel Dia:

1/4"

Blade:

This blade is made with a slight secondary bevel on the cutting edge. This helps to exit a cut cleaner, increases the edge durability and simplifies sharpening. Note: lift back edge of blade slightly while stropping or sharpening to maintain bevel.

How We Make Carving Knives - Video

PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife.
Each knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 10 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 2 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email

I am very happy with the knife. Works very well for detail work on cheeks forehead and other areas that have several angles converging.

My new knife by Paul

Paul I'm so sorry I haven't let you know how much I live my new knife, it's everything I thought it would be. I've been shuttled from here to offices and labs and you name it for one Dr or other till I'm catching myself coming or going. I've only had a short time to try my knives including yours, I even received the 3 knives from my daughter that I made from a circular saw blade years ago and I thought they had been lost. Plus 7 OCC knives that I had ordered, When I've had time I've been trying to strop them all and I've only gotten a few done. So please forgive me for not saying anything sooner. It's a beautiful knife and I hope people are keeping your Tuesdays busy ordering knives, maybe you will need to hire some help!
Thank you so much!

Favorite Knife

I've got the slim scalpel carver, upswept blade 1 1/2'' - It literally is my favorite and go to for spoon carving of all times. If I'd only have one knife, this one would be it. I do rough out with a machete and a cleaver (yes, my favorites, as they are super thin and easy to slice), and then use this knife. The blade is super thin which makes slicing very efficient and easy. I work with hard dry wood. The upswepd design allows to bite into the wood if necessary. The size is great for small to medium cleaning and all detail spoon work.
I've got these two knifes for a year and a half now, and believe it or not, but I have never sharpened them yet -> there's a trick for that - I always just use a nail polishing block with the 6000 side every 10 minutes to strop 5 times on each side. The knife stays razor sharp. That is excellent. It's my favorite knife by far.
