bought left and right-hand TWCA

Paul's bladesmithing quality really is second to none. I'm near enough to his shop that I picked up my order from him. His modest-size shop houses a serious blacksmithing operation. I was able to see many types of his blades, everything he makes will stand with the best of what's out there in the world.

I'm a nearly 30-year woodturner, so running hand-held edge cutting tools left or right-handed is second nature (I'm a righty). I'd seen a TWCA cam user online using both left and right-handed TWCA and thought it would be an advantage to own both, so I bought both left and right-handed 50mm TWCA blades. (I'd suggest this idea to to any TWCA user, the two orientations compliment each other to avoid awkward cutting strokes. It takes just a bit of practice to become good with both versions.) Paul does beautiful work, and they perform really well- I am very pleased with my purchase.

I made 1-1/8" x 1-3/8 rectanglar handles, then knocked off the corners as octagons and wiped on just one coat of linseed oil- no film finish. That size was loosely based on other tool handles in my shop, so nothing scientific, but the shape and grip works well for twisting the edge into wood. So far I've left the handles long at 24" but will shorten as I learn to use them more, and adjust the profiles as needed.

Thanks, Paul!

Twca Cam

As soon as my Twca cam arrived, I made a handle and once it was ready I started using it. It’s a great tool and I use it almost daily. Thank you

Incredible workmanship and sharp out of the box

I have been very happy with multiple purchases of carving knives from Paul, both straight(slojd) and curved. This goes doubly for the TWCAM, which glides through wood and the mechanical advantage of its' length really reduces hand stress and tension. Excellent tool , keep up the great work

How We Make Carving Knives - Video

PLEASE remember you are ordering a hand made knife, not something stamped out by a machine. As with any handmade item there are differences in the exact construction, therefore the knife may vary slightly from the photos shown. The wood handle you see in the photo may not be the exact color and figure pattern you receive. Photo may not be actual size, please refer to given dimensions.
Our blades have a near mirror finish. This allows the blade to move through the wood smoothly. There may be tooling marks still on the blade which do not affect the performance of the knife.
Each knife is individually made and we make every effort to get your knife in the mail within 10 working days, this allows 4 days for shipping. So approximately 2 weeks, give or take a day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions before ordering: Send Us an Email
